Happy New Year!

Ok... so I am a little behind.

In fact I am a lot behind!

My November blogging never really got started before I was once again swamped and then December was a right off... I would like to say it was due to Christmas but that wasn't the case.

Still its a new year now and a new start for ScrapShed! We ran out of space in the middle of last year and have been struggling to get everything in a way that makes it easy to operate on a daily basis. So... First job was to remove *everything* from the Shed and pretty much start again... and so thats what happened.

With all that was going on at the end of last year, we didn't have much time to upload all the new stock that continued to arrive and so second job... sort out the stack of invoices and get the new stock online! Admittedly a lot of it came to various shows with us, so its not all bad but after 10 days, I have just two invoices left to get online! YAY! I think I have uploaded over 700 items in that time.

Anyway... the worst is over! There is light at the end of the tunnel! Stock is ready to go back onto the new new racking (2nd time we have had new racks) and then its just a little bit of counting to be done and we are ready to re-open with our MASSIVE Winter sale.

Just in time too, as we have been placing loads of orders for all the fabulous new CHA releases and there are some lovely new items being released this year! Can't wait! I shall be posting "Sneak Peaks" (Sneak Peeks? Sneek Peeks?... who knows!) over the next five days... so watch out for those!

Blogging at Breakfast

Blogging for Scrapbookers - Day One

Today is day one of Shimelle's Blogging for Scrapbookers and I am going for the "little or no time" quick option... (you'll know what I'll mean if you are taking the course!)

I want to make sure I keep up with this class and so, for me, I think that is going to mean 'blogging at breakfast'.

I get up at 7am-ish every day (although right now its 6am-ish as I deliberately haven't put my watch back so I get the extra hour every day which allows me to get more done! - its psychological but it works!)

My days are pretty full and finding time to do anything is hard at the moment; but if I have the intention, I also need to find the time and so blogging while I eat my toast and drink my morning cuppa seems like a good routine at the moment.

I also need to set realistic and achievable goals (trying to be a good student!), so here we go...

  1. To maintain and update the blog as regularly as possible,

  2. ...with useful news, information and inspiration

  3. ...which is fun to read.

  4. To make blogging

  5. ...and daily life journaling/scrapbooking part of my life, in someway.

If you are also taking Shimelle's Blogging class and have popped over to read my blog... thanks so much for taking the time... its much appreciated. I am really looking forward to reading all your blogs in the coming weeks too!

Blog Mission #1

OK I have started on the road to blogdom with Shimelle and have decided that my blog needs to be much prettier! I like the three columns but need to make me funkier...

So my "Blog To Do List..." looks like this so far:-

1. Make Blog Prettier

I'm sure this will get longer....

Drawing a line...

Ok so I have just signed for Shimelle's new online scrapbooking class for bloggers and decided to breathe new life into this old blog.

I started it almost two years ago, after already running another for two years before that, and then never really had the time to keep it up but I miss the opportunity of using the blog facilities!

Just read back through the old posts (all four of them LOL) and laughed when I saw the last post from Feb 2008 said "we are thinking of doing shows..." I found it funny as in the 18 months since that post we have done 8 shows as well as running the online store full time. So perhaps that's why THAT was my last post! Soon as we decided to do it, we did it and had time for not a lot else!

Anyway, so see that below... that big fat line..? That's a line drawn under the old blog and I'm getting ready to start anew... with Shimelle's help of course!

Oh Gawd...

...we are thinking of starting to do shows - you know Ally Pally and such like.

We have the racks etc its just if I/we (mainly *I* it has to be said) have the energy and time.... watch this space!

Am I a blogger?

I am so remiss at blogging! Perhaps its more to do with the fact that I have no time... none at all! If I am not checking in the boxes of (lush!) stock that arrive daily, I am uploading stock to the website (and all that entails!) and if I am not doing that, then I'll be packing orders.

Actually, that's usually the bulk of my day; packing orders I mean, well at least 9am - 4pm anyway. Of course if we have tons of orders, packing parcels can easily be 6am-8pm!

Peeps are always surprised how long it takes to pack one order, I mean its not like grabbing one book of the shelf and popping it into an envelope! I've had a number of lovely peeps work here over the past 4 years and, on average, it takes me 15-20 mins to pack one order but thats because I know where everything is! Some orders; the ones with 40-50 different items, can take much longer, even over an hour! I had an order once, that took 2.5 hours to pack - mind it was HUGE!

But even with the average of 20 mins an order... in a 8 hour day, thats only 24 orders sent out... which is often a lot less than we receive! And that's if all parcels take 20 mins!

Right... back to the parcels!
